Team Green Britain Bike Week 2010

Team Green Britain Bike Week is an annual opportunity to promote cycling and how easy it can be to start cycling as part of your everyday life. This year’s aim is to make “everyday cycling for everyone” and to inspire people to get out on two wheels and give it a go. There are so many great excuses for cycling, from health and fitness to financial savings.

If you’re keen to start cycling why not try our Greener Living Fund partner Sustrans’ online mapping tool which can be used to plot your favourite cycling routes in your area, and share it with your friends!

Team Green Britain is being run by EDF energy, a sustainability partner of London 2012, Global Action Plan’s Greener Living Fund project – EcoTeams – are giving members of Team Green Britain practical advice and ideas on how to improve household efficiency and reduce their environmental impact, get involved!

EcoTeams training in Newcastle

If you want to become a Team Leader and run your own EcoTeam it’s useful to learn more about EcoTeams. You may be interested in attending this free event in Newcastle. Attending will enable you to learn about how to set up your own EcoTeam, how to tackle your environmental footprint and just why it is so important.

London EcoTeams Training

On the 28th November 2009 Global Action plan ran their EcoTeam Leaders training to 50 keen volunteers from the London area. The day was packed full of information on how to engage, recruit and run your EcoTeam and what the beenfits were. Everyone was encourgaed to network to find people living in the same area and Global Action Plan staff were on hand to answer questions and queries and to keep the day flowing. Richard and Tashweka took the time to say a few words about what they plan to do next after their training.

The EcoTems website by Global Action Plan has now gone live. You can sign up to join an EcoTeam in your area, start up your own time or find out about training events near you here http://ecoteams.org.uk/.

EcoTeams provide the practical information you need to take positive steps in your own lives towards greener living. Working together with family, friends, colleagues, even strangers, through a series of action-focused meetings or online groups, they’ll provide you with all the tools you need to make a difference.

Position: Senior EcoTeams Programme Manager

Global Action Plan is a national environmental charity that helps people make positive changes to reduce their environmental impact in schools, businesses, households and communities.

Our EcoTeams programme is designed to help households make improvements across a wide range of consumption activities. It seeks to change behaviour at the community level in order to reduce domestic environmental impact.

We have recently received funding to develop the programme further and have set ourselves some ambitious targets to engage thousands of households across the UK in taking up the EcoTeams challenge.

The Senior EcoTeams Programme Manager will manage a small team and will be responsible for delivery of the programme nationally, establishing partnerships with other organisations and ensuring that all aspects of the programme are of the highest quality.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and positive individual with a passion for the environment, community and working with people across sectors to create change. The successful candidate will have experience in managing environmental and community projects, including partnership working and managing staff and volunteers.
